Trice Proposal Stories
"Kelan & Jamie"
My Fiance Jamie and I are both from Colorado but currently live in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am a Captain in the United States Marine Corps and currently serving in a billet that requires me to deploy for about 45 days to various countries around the world that the US has fought in previous conflicts. I knew that I wanted to propose to Jamie upon returning from my first deployment to Vietnam. However, I would be under a tight timeline because I would leave for Vietnam again only 30 days after getting back to Hawaii. While I was still on deployment I began coordinating with my father in order to get advice, he immediately turned to Justin and the team at Trice to help me get the perfect ring. I knew the general idea of what I wanted the ring to look like, but I was completely new to shopping for engagement rings and diamonds. The expertise and wide array of options provided by Trice went above and beyond my expectations; they provided honest input that helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Justin sent several options based on the description I provided. The moment I saw one of the designs he sent me, I knew that was the ring I needed to get. Justin handpicked the diamond based on the specifics that I was looking for, and guaranteed that it would look amazing. What would normally take 6 weeks or more to accomplish, Justin and his team were able to accomplish in two. I received the ring the day after it was sent from Colorado, 5 days prior to my next deployment. Jamie had accepted the package and she didn't even know. I had known how I wanted to propose since the first weekend Jamie moved to Honolulu. We had hiked the 3 Peaks Trail (Olomana) and it had the most amazing view on the island that I have ever seen. We shared a very special conversation during that first hike that made me sure that was where I wanted to pop the question. I had told Jamie that I wanted to do something outdoors on the last weekend that we had together, so "we decided”to go on a hike. That Saturday we left the house at 6 am to start the hike so we could get there right after the sunrise. After about an hour and a half, and a few winded water breaks spent questioning that extra glass of wine we'd had at dinner, we reached the top of the first peak of the trail, the highest point of the hike. I had spent the previous night learning how to set the self timer on her camera while secretly packing strawberries and champagne. After a few minutes of soaking in the view at the top, I slipped the ring into my pocket and set the camera up on a boulder, hoping the t-shirt and granola bar would hold it up to snap the perfect shot, and told her to get ready. Once I hit the timer, the nerves set in; I only had 30 seconds to say everything that I had rehearsed to myself on the hike up. After putting my arm around her and telling her I loved her and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, my time was up…the flash on the camera started blinking, which meant it was my cue. As I kneeled down to one knee on the narrow rock we were standing on, one thought crossed my mind… “DON’T DROP THE RING!”. Fortunately for me, I didn’t drop it, even more fortunate, Jamie said yes! We sat on the top of the mountain for another hour, drinking champagne, eating strawberries and carving our initials onto a boulder to mark our engagement. It went better than I ever could have imagined, and I owe it all to Trice Jewelers for the amazing ring and the incredibly fast turnaround. R/S Kelan
