In the 1970s, Mitchell Binder moved from Jackson, Mississippi to Los Angeles. It was a tumultuous time for the entire nation, and in the midst of upheaval, radical voices in arts and culture were coming to the forefront.
Binder, who became a jeweler's apprentice at 15, found his artistic style informed by the new ideas of 'cool' dominating his worldview. Even today, the multinational atelier that Mitchell Binder put together continues to produce jewelry whose heart is Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Grateful Dead.
King Baby, the studio that Binder put together, is one of the designers showcased at Trice Jewelers, and we're excited about the prospect of being able to bring the anarchic chic of King Baby to our customers. If you're a man or woman who appreciates the rockabilly aesthetic, American-made quality, and edginess that doesn't sacrifice craftsmanship, King Baby is the choice for you.
Plus, if you're a Jason Momoa fan—or a fan of DC movies in general—it may interest you to know that King Baby was the source of the jewelry that Jason Momoa wore during his role as Aquaman!
